Your prom dress looks like a mullet... No it isn't okay.

Spring is finally here and while there is much to be excited about, girls all over are preparing for one of the most memorable events in their high school careers; prom.

Everyone wants to think they picked the most original prom dress. And that they are going to possibly be in the running for "best dressed", but original does not always have to mean the most provocative or outrageous. There is a classy way to go about anything in life and prom dress shopping isn't an exception.

Let's get started...

What I like to call "The Mullet."
"Business in the front and a party in the back" except the only guest at your party will be you.

Floral patterned prom dresses... Really?

This is not the time or place to be looking like your grandmother's Easter tablecloth. Try to go with something that isn't as bright and a more modern floral pattern.

There is no pole dancing at prom...
Moving on to the provocative picks aka what I like to call trashy. Whenever you see the word "sexy" it pretty much should be like caution tape. Luckily at most schools they require a dress code and some need to be thankful for this.

Little Bo Peep?? Is that you?
There are always the dresses with ruffles but there is a fine line between what is an acceptable level of ruffles and looking like you exploded in them.

Stop stop its burning my eyes!!
We get the fact you want to be noticed, but I don't still want to see the patterns of your dress when I look away.

And the winners of the most awful prom dress winner goes to... Oh wait.. There is a tie...

Sometimes you just have to keep it short and simple.

Here are some random fashion styles I adore, shoes I would dream of having, and photos that move me. :) Enjoy

Note: These are not my photos.

Excuse me mam? There is a small bird nesting behind your ear.

As the saying has always gone... Everyone wants what they don't have. If your hair is curly you want it straight. If your hair is straight you want it curly. And if you have short hair you want long hair. Luckily there are several beauty treatments to solve everyone's desires.

Hair extensions are pretty much old news in Hollywood and have been around for years. But now they have stepped it up a notch and flown away with it. Literally.  Now what fashionistas are referring to as the "New Fashion Hair Trend for Spring" is hair feather extensions. Yes, actual feathers weaved in your hair to be kept in for weeks at a time. No they do not really help you fly.

The key to hair extensions is making them look natural like you had some magical miracle growth sprinkled on your locks overnight and it grew with perfection. But with hair feather extensions there is nothing natural about it. I can't decide if wanting to resemble Big Bird is a fashion trend I want to see continued or not? Oh wait no, I'll pass. What about you?

Jennifer Love Hewitt's bird feather extensions

Hewitt's extensions are made from real bird feathers by Fine Featherheads to give her more of a bohemian look. While Hewitt's extensions are slightly more permanent having been sewed in there is an alternative to feather hair extensions. Clip-in ones from www.hottopic.com. But I can't decide which is worse. Take a look.

Is that a flamingo in your hair? Oh wait... you wanted it to look like a flamingo is nesting behind your ear! Weird.

I get the whole Black Swan thing and while it was an award winning film and amazing at that (Go Natalie you are my fav!) don't you think we are taking it a little too far? The main problem I have about this new trend is where are they getting all the feathers for these extensions? Because most advertise that they are not synthetic feathers. I don't mean to get all PETA on you or anything either. But are the feathers plucked from dead birds or are they being killed to add a bohemian, hippie look to  everyone's locks? I personally don't have any desire to have real bird feathers weaved in.

Bacon and cameltoe dresses... The life of Lady Gaga

We have seen it all from Lady Gaga when it comes to fashion, but has she gone a little overboard? I mean at the MTV VMA's, Gaga wore a dress made entirely from meat. Yes I am not kidding you... meat. It is one thing to make a statement and be creative with your own unique style but to resemble an entrée for a pack of wolves is crossing the line.

As my mom says, "Lady Gaga is great... if you don't have to look at her." And honestly I have to agree with her. I am just so over her style and never knowing what bizarre assemble she is going to have on next. Now I am not discriminating on Gaga's talent or fame because she did walk away with many Grammy's, but sometimes I wonder if she dresses the way she does for attention? She has to be. Anyone who arrives in a giant dinosaur eggshell being carried by half naked men is screaming for attention. Incase Gaga wasn't aware the Grammy's was to honor a  number of people, not to have the whole show focused on what outrageous thing she is going to do next.

I have to say I don't agree with many of the outfits and neglect to see the message behind them. One trend she does successfully continue to achieve is her cameltoe conducive bottoms. This is not a trend I foresee anyone wanting to continue. I feel like every one of her outfits needs an explanation. Let me share with you what her idea of making a statement is...

Quoted from www.gofugyourself.com on Lady Gaga's Grammy arrival couldn't have been put any better.

"And, trust, it’s not like I think the Grammys are the equivalent of the Nobel Prize or whatever, but I suspect everyone who was nominated for one, and who got to walk the red carpet, got pretty excited about their big night. And then this stupid Egg Being Carried In By Minions routine completely and totally drew every single bit of red carpet attention away from EVERYONE ELSE. To my mind, that’s not performance art — because it’s not being done to make a larger artistic point. The point it’s making is, “I’M HERE IN AN EGG LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME ME ME ME ME ME HOW ELSE CAN I FOLLOW A MEAT DRESS?” Honestly, I just think it’s bratty."

In my personal opinion I think Lady Gaga is trying to mimic Madonna and lets face it...No one will ever be able to successfully do that. I wish Lady Gaga would just sing and stop relying on her outrageous outfits to give her fame.

Are you naked? Oh wait no its a nude colored dress.

So I haven't blogged in awhile because I have had the flu. For the second time, mind you. I pretty much could be flu season's poster child. Auditions?

Anyways, after my last blog about the SAG Awards it sparked an idea about nude colored gowns. Aka: ACE bandages.

Actually no I am kidding. I am not that opposed to nude colored dresses as they are making quite the appearance on the runways and red carpets. But there are some things you need to know before deciding to go streaking.

I took a poll on Twitter through moxsie's buyerchat, which is fabulous by the way (@ runs the Twitter account for Moxsie.com) and came to the conclusion that it, "Seems like the crowd approves of nude that doesn't wash you out, styled with bright accent colors."

But I don't think people really grasp the concept of what it means to be washed out so that is why I am here. As you know everyone has a different skin tone so one shade of nude to someone could look completely different on someone else. Tip: You do not match a dress to your skin tone. Why? Well, because then we don't know if you are even wearing a dress and that is just not okay.

Here is Glee's, Lea Michele at the Director's Guild Awards in a tight fitted nude gown by Herve L. Leroux. Thank God for the contrast of the red carpet otherwise I wouldn't have known a dress is what she has on. From at least the waist up the dress gets lost because it blends too much with her skin tone. Agreed?

I love everything about Carrie Underwood and I am not trying to play favorites, but c'mon she knows what she is doing. There is a clear color contrast between her skin and the dress and with the added shimmer it doesn't leave people wondering if she is wearing just her birthday suit. Hands down to you Carrie.

Even if you are the worst you still have won in that sense...

The 17th Screen Actors Guild Awards were held on Sunday and as most already know, when there is a red carpet to be walked down, let the judging begin. I was actually surprised with the wardrobe of many of the stars in that they weren't aiming to be blasted about on every fashion blog. Bright colors and printed patterns were in popular demand and I was not opposed.

Re-Cap of my Favorites:

Mila Kunis was among one of my favorites choosing to go the same route as The First Lady with an Alexander McQueen gown. Think back to when Michelle Obama wore McQueen to the China State Dinner and was heavily criticized. However my opinion differs. I think both Obama and Kunis' choice of McQueen was brilliant.

Heather Morris dazzled the red carpet in a blush colored gown by Romona Keveza. This actually reminded me of something I would wear to an event like this. It is elegant, classy, and girlie all at the same time.

And...(drum roll please...) my absolute favorite and vote for best dressed goes to Julianna Margulies wearing a strapless red gown by  Yves Saint Laurent. Obviously if you couldn't tell already I am a huge fan of strapless dresses and also the color red. I especially love when red is paired with darker features. I think it screams, "Hey everyone, all eyes on me."

Much like the SAG Awards, while there are many winners, there are also many losers and when it comes to fashion this is no exception.

And because everyone is a winner... worst-dressed awards go to...

Nicole Kidman picked a Nina Ricci gown with lace cut-outs that I just thought did not compliment here at all. The necklace combination was also a miss and confused me as to whether or not it was part of the dress neckline or what.

Christina Hendricks what were you thinking? Mad Men actress wore L’Wren Scott dress with to the event. And with the heavy black eye make-up she reminded me of a red-headed Bratz doll. No?

And the celebrity with the biggest red-carpet blunder goes to...

What is this? We have a tie?

Lauren Valez in a heavily flowered printed dress that does her no justice. If she would have laid down at the start of the red carpet she could have been everyone's welcome mat.

Kate Mara's pick with the nude on nude color Herve Leger number made her look like an ACE bandage.

So who is on your best and worst dressed lists? Anyone top these picks? Do share...

Its pants? No wait its an adult onesie...

The fashion of the 1970s may be returning, if it hasn't already, but I don't think I am going to hop on that bandwagon trend. With the weather starting to get warmer I think people are confused what to wear. Do you wear jeans and a tank? Or do you wear shorts and long sleeves? No one really knows. So instead they resort to a combination one-piece garment, the jumpsuit or what I like to call the adult onesie. I refuse to be that indecisive about what to wear that I resort this.

My biggest problem with the jumpsuit is using the bathroom. You have to almost get completely naked just to use the toilet. Not only that but sometimes people's choice in jumpsuits are all wrong for their figures. Like the ones where the waist comes up above their belly button much like the style of Steve Urkel. Not cute.

Marciano Tarantella Jumpsuit

Is this chick serious? You would never wear the same pattern top as you would pants so why would this one-piece combination be okay? Oh thats right, its not. There is only one place this onesie should be worn... in the 1970s. Lets keep what was worn in the past in the past.

The frontal tramp stamp...

Everyone should be familiar with the famous tramp stamp tattoo. If you aren't let me refresh your memory. Wikipedia refers to them as, "A lower back tattoo is a body decoration, sometimes intended to emphasize sexual attractiveness. Such tattoos have become popular since the late 1990s. They are sometimes derided as suggestive of promiscuity and often referred to as "tramp stamps." And just in case you need a visual (also for my entertainment...) here is a picture.

rankmytattoos.com
Hot huh? And no I am not trying to offend anyone that ever decided to get one of these "tramp stamp" tattoos or imply anything about your character.

Anyways, now that the whole tramp stamp fad is so 1990, let me introduce you to what is the new and hot fad of today. And also, because I want you to be kept up on the most recent vaginal grooming trend. Wouldn't want you to feel left out. It is called, vajazzling. Oh yes, it is much like the tramp stamp, but with more bling. Much more. It took me awhile to gain composure after hearing about this new trend, just because I thought it was so ridiculous and honestly I thought it was a joke. According to Vajazzling.com (Yea, they have their own website) Vajazzling is, "The act of applying glitter and jewels to a woman's nether regions for aesthetic purposes."

I mean really? Aesthetic purposes? I just can't imagine going to get "vajazzled" and pulling my pants down so someone can bling-out my vaginal area. Oh but wait, it gets better. Vajazzling is not cheap, it costs anywhere from $50-$150 to get your who-ha bejeweled and it only lasts for up to 5 days. I just don't get it. If any girl thinks she needs to decorate her privates to resemble a disco-ball she has some serious problems.  Please take a look at this nonsense.

My question is, what is the intention of getting vajazzled? And do you really want to degrade yourself to this extent? What are your thoughts?

A girl can dream... right?

Who has seen the first Sex and the City? Well if you haven't you might be mildly lost in these next few minutes. Remember when Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) was asked by Vogue to do a photo-shoot in the magazine about  a style icon AND a bride in her forties. Naturally Carrie agrees to do it, wearing different designer wedding gowns, including a Vivienne Westwood.  And then, (this is the whole point of this post) Vivienne Westwood herself sends the wedding dress to Carrie with a note saying she saw the pictures and that Carrie deserved the dress.

Hector Vallenilla/Pacific Coast News

So me being the dreamer that I am, imagined what if some of my favorite designers felt I "deserved" their pieces? And one day while going to get the mail their JUST HAPPENED to be a box with collections that  moved me. I know, I know, any girl hopes this could happen, but the chances are slim. But lets pretend. What collections from Paris Couture S/S2011 would I want to see on my doorstep? I'll share.
