Excuse me mam? There is a small bird nesting behind your ear.

As the saying has always gone... Everyone wants what they don't have. If your hair is curly you want it straight. If your hair is straight you want it curly. And if you have short hair you want long hair. Luckily there are several beauty treatments to solve everyone's desires.

Hair extensions are pretty much old news in Hollywood and have been around for years. But now they have stepped it up a notch and flown away with it. Literally.  Now what fashionistas are referring to as the "New Fashion Hair Trend for Spring" is hair feather extensions. Yes, actual feathers weaved in your hair to be kept in for weeks at a time. No they do not really help you fly.

The key to hair extensions is making them look natural like you had some magical miracle growth sprinkled on your locks overnight and it grew with perfection. But with hair feather extensions there is nothing natural about it. I can't decide if wanting to resemble Big Bird is a fashion trend I want to see continued or not? Oh wait no, I'll pass. What about you?

Jennifer Love Hewitt's bird feather extensions

Hewitt's extensions are made from real bird feathers by Fine Featherheads to give her more of a bohemian look. While Hewitt's extensions are slightly more permanent having been sewed in there is an alternative to feather hair extensions. Clip-in ones from www.hottopic.com. But I can't decide which is worse. Take a look.

Is that a flamingo in your hair? Oh wait... you wanted it to look like a flamingo is nesting behind your ear! Weird.

I get the whole Black Swan thing and while it was an award winning film and amazing at that (Go Natalie you are my fav!) don't you think we are taking it a little too far? The main problem I have about this new trend is where are they getting all the feathers for these extensions? Because most advertise that they are not synthetic feathers. I don't mean to get all PETA on you or anything either. But are the feathers plucked from dead birds or are they being killed to add a bohemian, hippie look to  everyone's locks? I personally don't have any desire to have real bird feathers weaved in.

Keep it classy,
