Spring Has Sprung. Get 'Waisted!'
Yes, boys on campus, the weather is getting nicer which could only mean one thing for you; the girls will be showing off more skin.
Matt Ward, freshmen at Rochester Institute of Technology said, “One clue that the weather is getting warmer is the girls are dressing sexier.”
So what is this seasons ‘sexy but classy’ trend? A trend that seems to have left a permanent residency in the wardrobe dating all the way back to 1950’s fashion icons; Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. The answer seems obvious, as girls today on campus are wearing them everywhere. Yes, you guessed it, the high-waisted skirt. The reason this trend hasn’t surpassed is because it works for so many body types, accentuating or even creating the illusion on slender bodies, of an hourglass figure. If you want to create curves where there are none, there is a simple fix; get waisted!
“I think if the whole outfit is put together right the high-waisted skirt can be really cute,” student at Wor-Wic Community College Chelsea Cox said. “I have definitely done it a few times with plain fitted white t-shirts, making an outfit instantly dressier.”
That is just another one of the benefits to the high-waisted skirt. You can easily take a solid color shirt or tank top and by tucking it into the skirt band, you have created a dressier and sophisticated look. Take Lauren Conrad’s simple plain white tank top tucked in her deep red skirt for example.
One more advantage to the high-waisted skirt is that there are a variety of styles to choose from. Whether it be a pencil fitted skirt, high pleated, or ruffles this trend seems to be universally popular, flattering and oh wait, did you say affordable?
Cox said surprisingly she found reasonably priced high-waisted skirts that had a variety of trendy patterns at dELiAs. Take a look. Which style are you going to try?

One trend that has seemingly been around for what seems like forever is the military trend. Trying to incorporate camo into the wardrobe. While I personally don't believe camo should be incorporated into fashion there are some that beg to differ. The military look however doesn't always have to be about camo. It could be as simple as the color olive or using a military hat as an accessory.

April Showers Bring.... Rain Boots
We all wish we lived in a place where the weather is tropical with blue skies and where the sun is always shining, but let’s face it, most of us don’t live in that kind of paradise. If you live on campus and the only transportation you have is by foot, you are constantly debating on whether or not to even go to class. I know I did when I lived in South Carolina when it was raining. I mean is it really worth getting wet and then having to sit in the over air conditioned classrooms? Yea, sure there are umbrellas and rain jackets, but there always ends up being some part of you that the rain has managed to soak. But one thing is true about rain on college campuses and that is the popular rain boot trend. It seems like the more crazy the print the better.
“They are extremely popular on campus and I think they are useful because when you are walking across campus in the rain or post rain puddles it’s nice to not have soaking feet,” said University of Delaware student Laura Feliciano.
Feliciano said being a college student there is one thing she lacks and that is funding for her fashion wardrobe. So when choosing which rain boots she wanted her goal was to find something stylish but affordable. She purchased her rain boots from Target last year and said she has been nothing but satisfied.
Here are just a few of Target’s cute but inexpensive rain boot options running anywhere between $14.99-$31.99.

“Target’s rain boots serve their purpose and that is all I need rain boots for,” Feliciano said.
There is nothing that bothers me more than wet socks or the tip of my shoes getting damp from the grass or puddles so I believe the simple solution is to buy a pair of rain boots. They come in so many different styles and colors that you are almost guaranteed to find your perfect match.
For those of you college students who are working a part-time job while going to school to fund not only your bar tabs and social life, but your fashion wardrobe here are some slightly more expensive but popular rain boot options.

Some may not agree but this is one college fashion trend that I particularly believe in following. I do however think that if it is not raining or post-rain then your brightly colored, rubber ducky printed rain boots just draw more attention to the fact you did not watch the weather channel.
Keep it classy,
Elizabeth
